Shi is originally from Quang Binh province – the Cave Kingdom, Vietnam.
He is an adventurer, an ambitious cyclist, and a fearless traveler. Recently, he was voted as the best story-teller in the area.
Shi graduated from Hue Tourism College in the Major of Travel Business and Hue University of Foreign Languages (HUFL) with a B.A. in English. Shi’s had a good time working for an International Travel Agency in the Sales Marketing Department and a member of the adventure guide team.
Shi soon fell in love with the passion of traveling, especially traveling by bicycle.
His bike trips that took him all around Indochina (Vietnam – Laos – Cambodia) have increased his love of the good things in life and his conviction that in order to really know a place you would love to know its people, its cafés, its villages, its stories, and its foods.
After years of working and cycling since 2005, Shi founded his dream of Oriental Sky in 2011 along with his friend, Luke – to share their love of travel and cycling, and to inspire others to see the world with wonder and joy, to seize every day, and to travel to their highest potential.
Shi also gets involved in some CBT (Community Based Tourism) projects in the areas as a consultant and volunteer, such as Rustic Chay Lap (www.chaylap.org).
Shi speaks excellent English and Vietnamese, as well as pretty nice Thai.
Luke, the co-founder, also known as Loc, was a classmate of Shi when they were at the Tourism College - sponsored by Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and HUFL. He was born in Quang Tri province, historically part of the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) in Vietnam.
Luke has over 7 years of experience working at the Operation Department for an International Travel Agency, and is responsible for all guide, accommodation, meal and vehicle assignments as well as the everyday running of the company’s operation. Without Luke there would be little point in any of us turning up for work in the morning! Luke speaks excellent English and Vietnamese, and that includes slang.
The founders remain their friendship which has been last for over 10 years.
